Thank you all. Booked to see a nurse Fri am.
That does describe what I'm felling yes, if I had a slipped disc would I not feel that pain as well, or is this that pain as its hitting the nerve (if that makes sense).

Why is there always a scary cause at the bottom on NHS direct ;-)

Hazel back problems of all sorts can affect your limbs as well, but sciatica seems the most likely. Hopefully the nurse can reassure you. But meantime don't lift or carry heavy stuff. Ibuprufen will help take down any inflammation and give you relief.
Having had two ops for disc problems, I found that there was little pain at the site of the damage - just about all the pain was referred ie somewhere else, mainly down leg into foot.
NHS direct is a waste of time ...a bunch of non medical amateurs.

You haven't " slipped a disc" otherwise you would not be walking around and the pain would be greater than you have described.

Keep us informed.
