Texting a number, blackberry storm 9500

Ok this must be possibly in a simpler way to what I'm doing now. I want to text the number of one of my contacts to another, very simple I'd imagine that it's a common need. Up to now I have had to find the number, write it down, then text it manually. I've googled etc but I can't see the wood for the trees, anyone know?

Open contacts, highlight the contact you want to send. Press the home key, send contact card, text

Thanks, I tried that, I have "send as attachment" , i don't have "send contact card" as an option but that tries to send an email. By "home key" you mean the one with the blackberry logo on it right?

thanks gromit but surely it's a basic need that is catered for somewhere without fannying about! I used to have a nokia and that did it fine!
