Cat's eye- Injured or infected?

My 4 year old tom has just come in with a poorly eye; closed but not weeping. We got his full kitten vacs, but missed boosters. Should I take him to the vet tonight?

Wait and see - Black Spot came in with a funny weepy eye the other night, he'd got a grass seed in it. He soon wept it out.

I'd bathe the eye in a saline solution - if you have a chemist that stays open late nearby you can get them there, otherwise boil some water, add salt allow it to cool and then bathe your cat's eye now and agin later this evening. If it's not right tomorrow, call the vet.

Good tip for making saline to use on pets. Test it by putting a drop in your own eye first...better that your eye should sting than your pet should be hurt so that you can't bathe the eye or sore place properly!

I always keep a tube of Golden Eye Ointment (any chemist sells it) not only for human but also animal use. It's mildly antibiotic & contains no irritants & is very soothing. Gently pull down the lower eylid & squeeze a line of the ointment along. Smooth it along & repeat once a day. It helps hayseeds & particles to come to the corner ready for wiping away. If this does'nt cure the problem after 2 days take your animal to the Vet.
