I just saw this surname on a web site, and I hope Latin and Italian scholars can tell me -- does this name imply that the person has a fox in her head?  Or like someone said about seemlingly-ditzy comedienne Goldie Hawn, "She's dumb like a fox."

I tend to think it just means "foxhead" in the physical sense; maybe originally applied to someone with red hair, pointed nose and a cunning look in the eyes, if you catch my drift.
