“They’re changing guards at Buckingham Palace.
King Cliffy’s going to go down with Alice”

Alice? Alice? Who the **** is Alice?

Still on a Queen/horsey theme, King Cliffyg was “Trooping the Colour” and went with the following link words:

Queen SIZE
Birthday SUIT
Colour BLIND
Guard RAIL

I see that new-comer albaqwerty is still trying to make an impact, although Euphemia made a little splash with her very first attempt!

Crofter, thank for all the entertainment - and I for one fully understand your wanting to withdraw and spend more time with your good lady while you can. I feel for you both, please accept my best wishes for a good as time as possible for the months ahead. Thinking of you both ♥
Thank you very much for all your hard work crofter. ;o)
So sorry to hear the sad news both Alan and I send you and Val our very best wishes and hope that you are able to spend your time together enjoying all those things you like like to do.
I don't do the links every week but always enjoy looking in to see who has won and love reading your comments. We will miss you but our prayers will be with you both and thank you for all the time you have spent on the MM Links.
So sorry to hear of Val's illness and fully understand your decision, Crofter. It's been a great four years and I, for one, thank you for all the time and effort you've put in. Anyone who has done the setting will know the dedication, thoughtfulness and help you've offered to the nervous 'kings and queens' of the links. Thanks, too, to Val for putting up with all those hours dedicated to the links. Please give Val a hug from me - so glad to have met her last year. My prayers and thoughts are with you both.
So sorry to hear your sad news crofter. You were so kind when my first great grand daughter Chloe was born explaining that her name meant shepherdess, and for helping me out of the shrubbery when I first joined AB.God bless you both.Joan
Dear Crofter.Very sad to hear your news.My thoughts are with you both.Thank you for all your time and help especially when I was setting the links.Saturday mornings will never be the same again. My wamest regards to you both.Lysander
Hi Crofter ,
I am so sorry to hear your news. You will be a big miss on a Saturday morning. I would like to see MM Links continue. If I can be of any help with MM please ask. I thank you for your help and support when I was the Royal Setter. It was truly a wonderful month for me. My prayers are with you both at this time. If there is anything you haven't already done and you are able to do it, go for it and make some memories. All my love to you both. Handbaglady
Crofter, I was with CliffyG yesterday and he told me about your sad news. I was one of your worst ever clients. As 'Don Corleone', I could get people shot, but could not 'Cut and Paste'. My thoughts are with you both at this very trying time.
This is just the saddest news. Crofter my thoughts are with both you and Val.
As somebody has posted, life can be so cruel. I am very upset for you both, but I do hope you get some quality time together.

As far as the MM lInks go, I will try and help where I can, but I don't think anyone could fill Crofters shoes. Having said that, I think it would be a shame if we could not somehow, between us, carry this weekly social gathering on, for Crofter more than anyone.

Maybe we could put our heads togeher?
Oh Crofter .....I'm so sad for you and Val to hear your news. Life can be so terribly cruel and I only hope that you manage to find some of the peace and time in each other's company that you had planned for your retirement. I have had enormous fun playing the game you started over the last 4+ years. But as I've played to my own silly rules I've never had the pleasure of setting the Links, so can only guess at the enormous amount of time and dedication that has gone into keeping the game fresh and fun, as well as running on well-oiled wheels. Thank you for all of this.

Sadly, I am barely computer-literate so can offer no practical support to Gen2, but it seems to me that it would be an awful shame - after all the interest, excitement and international camaraderie that you have engendered on this site - if 'your game' were to wither and die.

As a tribute to you & Val I would very much like it to continue. Gen2 explained why it was called MM links: perhaps the fact that he felt it needed an explanation is a sign that the name has reached its 'sell-by' date. Could I suggest it is renamed Crofter's Game in recognition of all the time and effort you & Val have put into making it the fun that it is.

My thoughts and prayers are with you both, Christine
I think that's a very good idea Kettledrum.
I would be happy to help where I can in 'Crofter's Game'.

Maybe a few of us together?
Hi crofter.
So sad to hear of your news. I would like to echo the sentiments expressed by everyone on this thread.
I have been taking part in the MM Links game since January 2008 almost every week, and have enjoyed not only the competition, but the friends I have met on here - I feel I know you all well, although we have never met.
Thanks crofter for all your hard work over the years - I can fully understand how much time it has taken you in the organisation.
It would be a shame if it didn't continue, although I personally could not be any help with my current commitments.
Once again thanks and good luck for the future, hope verything goes well for you.

Thanks for your many kind thoughts, which I shall pass on to Valerie.

Our new motto is: CANCER is just a "word" ~ not a "sentence"!
Dear Crofter and Val,
I have been away for the weekend and have just seen the posted news about Val and her recent diagnosis. I am so sorry to learn about this, but do honestly hope that you both make the next months count , and do as many things on your bucket list as is possible. Take joy in each day as it comes and live it to the fullest. You have many friends here on this site and we are all behind you. Our thoughts and prayers are with you both, but if you need succour from us then just ask and I am sure it will be returned a hundredfold.
Crofter, it is some time since I have played the MM links, I used to be a regular and indeed was Princess Alibobs once! You were very helpful when I was the setter and I can quite see how much of your time is taken up each week.
Get out there and smell the roses - my thoughts are with you and Mrs Crofter x
Having only just dipped my toe into MM links, I'd like to echo the previous comments.

I would like to offer my support in contnuing Crofter's game, however, just at this moment is not going to be a good time to cointue my internet connection. In a few weeks I hope to be in a better situation to offer a more stable support.

Best wishes to Crofter and Val xxx
I too would like to echo the sentiments expressed by the above linkers and to say thank you for all your work in the setting of these links.

I would like to echo the sentiments expressed by the above linkers and to thank you for all your hard work during the couple of years that I have tried in vain to get to the top of the leader board .
