I have taken my car to Kwik Fit and they have rung me saying they are going to have to replace the hand brake cable as it is frayed - they are checking some other stuff with the brakes as well.  They have said to replace the brake cabe is 105 pounds - does that sound about right? I have no idea - fingers crossed that they don't need to do loads more stuff!

Thanks

Steph

I'll probably get a rollockin for sayin this, (vat dodging etc.) but if you are stuck, your best bet is askin one of the lads in the garage (or any garage) if he can come round and fit a cable if you buy it - he will probably charge you twenty quid.
AA service centre with the exact same problem on my mot, 69.99 with vat and labour
Unless it's a specially expensive car, they'll buy a brake cable for about 15.00 from the motor factors and usually it should take around 30 - 40 mins MAX on a lift including tea break. So the rest is huge profit & vat
