My 2 Swallows are back at last as there was only one here on 26th April when I reported last. Have not seen any since then until today.
Not sure if they are the same ones that come every Year , no way that I can tell, but there will be breeding again and that is good.
Many Years ago we had Swallows breeding in our Garage every Year along with House Martins on the gable end of the House..
A mile up the road there was a large colony of Sand Martins breeding in this Sand Bank for many successive Years until housing developers moved in and ruined everything.
Great Birding days !

Glad your Swallows are back Redman, My Swifts in the eves have doubled in number, must have about 20 lovely noisy little chaps/chapesses, happy days :)
Our swifts have been back for about a fortnight, shrieking about. I heard that there may be a shortage of housemartins this year, because it's so dry there is not enough mud to get their nests to stick to people's eaves. I still remember the nest outside my bedroom window when I was a child.
redman, have just replied to your south stack thread :)

Counted around 9 Swallows swooping above the Tree canopies this morning, never had this many in my vicinity before. Plenty of Insects for them to feed on so I hope they all breed well in the neighbourhood this Year.
