I have just purchased a new washing machine (7kg max load).
Does anybody know of a website which gives a rough guide as to how many items of clothing / towels etc constitute a load?
I have done a search on Google, but drawn a blank.
Before you all poke fun at me, no I do not have a set of scales at home to weigh my washing load; and there is no guidance in the instruction manual or on the manufacturers website.
Many thanks

''how many items of clothing / towels etc constitute a load?''

Wouldn't that depend on the size/material/weight of the individual items?
put your empty laundry basket on bathroom scales & see what it weighs then add towels etc. up to 7Kg.Ron.
Hmmm - I've had my machine for 9 years, I do between 7 and 9 loads a week. I have no idea what it's maximum load is! I just shove stuff in until there is a wee bit of space left at the top to allow it to move about. That seems to work for me. I don't really differentiate between heavy stuff and light stuff, it's all just volume to me.
im the same as annie, leave about a fifth of the drum empty
I never weigh it, I just poke it in until it feels right, so the clothes etc can move but it's reasonably full up.
Mine has got a load percentage button on it, you can press it to see how full it is. I usually wash when it's 75 or 100 per cent full, which is a laundry basket not full to the top, usually.
I only half-fill mine, to leave plenty of room for the clothes to move around freely.
I go with Ron's idea. Use bathroom or kitchen scales to get representative weights for sheets, towels etc and figure it out from that. I have found that 7kg is a lot of stuff.
My washing machine tells me the weight just after I switch it on. Are you sure you don't have that facility?
I wish I could discipline myself to leave a little more room in my machine; I do as others do and shove it in until theres a bit of wriggle room at the top. Occaisionally if I've loaded if too heavily it creases up or doesn't rinse properly and I have to be more careful,l but with normal towels, clothes and bed linen I don't think its really possible to overload as far as weight goes.
Mine is also a 7kg max load. I've always gone by however much I can carry in one big bundle and it all goes in. That (poor) logic seems to have worked for me so far.
Always remember to put a new bright red T shirt in with your white underwear :-)
