Does grammar bother you? Do you find yourself correcting people when they don't say things right?

I find it nigh impossible to ignore grammar thanks to my English teacher, whose life centred on imparting her knowledge to her pupils. I have been correcting the Chief Executive of Easyjet on Breakfast TV as she knows not the difference between fewer and less. Old habits die very hard for me. Sorry to say it, but some grammatical errors make me wince ☺
I'll wince with you, Ena - well, both of us will, my husband and I... ;-)
I too hate bad grammar, but I wouldnt correct anyone, I would just cringe and accept it I suppose. We all have our little imperfections. My OH on the other hand, is terrible. His blood boils when people use bad grammar, especially on radio or tv. His pet hate is ` revert back to `. I know how hes going to respond as soon as he hears it, and close my ears.
My pet hate is when after winning a game someone will say `Ive won them ` as though the opponent is the prize.
I hate bad grammar and bad spelling also - part of me always wants to correct it (bad spelling particularly) but I hold my tongue (and pen).

None of us are perfect after all. I'm crap at maths ;-)
Using the wrong terminology is as bad as not knowing the grammar - He borrowed me his car, I got it off of the internet, etc.
<< I am considering my options here - should I say 'None of us is perfect'?>>
Morning Salla ;o)
True boxy. They don't seem to put the same emphasis on grammar, terminology and spelling at schools in English classes these days (Am I allowed to call it English - is that somehow racist or whatever -ist is appropriate?!)

My children were at secondary school 10 years or so ago, and even then I was appalled at how little they were taught about the basics of language as we were.
We used to parse sentences, I expect many of you did, too - I am not convinced that these days, youngsters would know how to define "a part of speech".
I've been 'corrected'... I knew it!!! I'm ducking out of this thread because I shall be paranoid now ;-)
Salla - my apologies to you - I have been up all night, but I will retire gracefully now xx
Don't waste your holiday with being up all night, ena - sleep well for a while, I'm going to work in a minute ;-(
No offence my sweet - I was kidding. On here, my grammar probably leaves a lot to be desired - it's not quite essay or English exam writing is it?!!

Get some sleep, nothing worse than insomnia x
Ta Salla. Insomnia hs become a way of strife now ☺
Did you spot the typo ^
;-)
