Wife: What do you want to do for your birthday?
Me: I don't know. When is it?
Wife: Tomorrow.
Me: Is it really? I guess it is. Let me think on it.

I really don't care about holidays or birthdays or doing things on them. Its always a hassle and I guess its just another day to me. I only have two stock responses that I use. "I don't know" and "Alright, I'll play your silly game. What do I want for my birthday?"

How about 'Don't ask me that next year, thanks dear'
We have a system. We buy each other presents when we feel like so on birthdays we use a simple ploy.
Choose a card that your partner really likes. Ditto a little present.
Present said card and gift on the day.
After agreed period put them away til next year when they come out again.

This leaves you free to buy flowers, presents etc when you want. Nice surprises.
Triumph Bonneville, that's what i would ask for
Cowtipper, you and my OH would get on fine.
dont be a grump.. have a nice birthday, and appreciate any cards or gifts !
We don't really go in for giving each other gifts any more!...........well no, he always gives me Stargazer lilies!...............my favourites!..........I take him out for a meal and a few drinks!............it suits!...........we don't need anything these days!........but I do love fragrant lilies!........and he likes a pint or three!..........happy!..............
Birthdays we buy each other a magazine subscription plus a little just for the day.
Christmas we give each other a card saying I owe you lunch at the pub or restaraunt of your choice, I had my xmas present last week!
Don't be miserable, life's too short. Think of something you'd like however small and trivial, just to suprise her.

Suggestions:
Chocolate
Paperback book
meal out
theatre or cinemal visit
train ticket for a day out
clothing
slippers
music download or CD
magazine subscription
entry ticket to a visitor attraction
free bet in the bookies
nothing original here, but its got to be better than grrrrr!!
TBH we don't do anything these days for our birthdays other than a card, and perhaps a little gift "from the catz". Funds are tight and we don't need anything - we'd rather save the money for our holidays. We did go out for a Chinese meal for our anniversary a couple of weeks ago, but that was quite unusual!

"Triumph Bonneville, that's what i would ask for " I actually have one in pieces in the shop. I forgot I had it until my folks wanted it out of their shop. The title says I've had it since 96. Not enough parts to put it together. Its a '69 model so its the same age as me.
Don't try changing the subject Cowtipper! ;-)
Just tell her you want a bit of birthday slap and tickle.
Better to pick something out than have something that you definitely do not want, will never wear, or use in any way and which will end up in the drawer for ever to eventually find its way to the charity shop, brand new.
It is now officially your birthday over here, so whatever you get and do - have a good one Cowtipper :) x
I think it's diamonds for a 70th isn't it , Cowy? ;)
All the best mate, you old grumpy boots.
Yes Happy Birthday Cowtipper, like it or not the word Happy is in there remember!!

Thanks all. I think I'll go past the hobby shop and find some kind of cool toy for her to pay for. I appreciate all your well wishes. Except Arti :P 70...
