My whippet x italian greyhound is 10 months old and is due to be spayed in approx 3 months. I'm just really worried aboutthe anaesthetic! I lost an afghan hound wheh he was put under for a dental. I appreciate this was over 25yrs ago and they are much improved since, I'm just so so worried about it! Although sighthounds encounter greater problems under GA, problems are still really unlikely, aren't they?????

Also-that site has many knowledgeable sighthound owners who can offer first hand advice.
Speak to your vet, if he doesnt have much knowledge of the problems sighthounds have with GA, go elsewhere.
They use anaesthetics that are quickly reversible nowadays, so they can bring them round very quickly after the surgery. They also weigh them and only use the minimum amount of GA necessary to keep them under long enough to do the op. Speak to your vet about your concerns and I am sure they will reassure you. Probably more risky to not have her spayed and risk an unplanned pregnancy which can be dangerous and end up losing the bitch.
