Pretty close, except that it can grow on many broad leafed trees, such as elm, oak and poplars and is semiparasitic... that is, it can grow on its own, but tends to prefer a host...

Mistletoe is indeed a parasitic plant which grows upon the trunk of a number of trees in Britain including apple,  lime, sycamore and occasionally oak trees.

It draws it nutrients from the tree on which it lives but the British variety causes little damage to its host.

It is propogated by birds who eat the white berries and deposit the seeds on a new host.Throughout the ages it has been thought to hold many mysterious properties and is still used at Christmas. Beware, though, the berries are poisonous to humans.
