I currently have my calls package with AOL talk and my line rental with BT. BT have increased the cost to £13.50 per month. I have seen that if I switch to Primus they will do it for £6.79 per month for a one year contract. I do not, however, wish to switch my calls package. I rang both their sales and customer service numbers to check that I could keep my calls with AOL and just pay their line rental and they said that I could but I could not understand them and I don't think they could understand me as English was not their first language. When I filled in the switch form online there was a message stating that I would no longer pay my current provider for calls or line rental. I abandoned the switch at that time. Does anyone know whether it is possible just to have the line rental?

A quick look at Which? suggests that you can't have your calls package from AOL and pay your line rental to Primus.
