Dentist problems

Hi all,

I had a filling put in about 16 months ago, which at the time I didn't think was that well done... and the other day it fell out, leaving a sharp and ragged tooth underneath.

My last check-up was six months ago, and no problems were highlighted then.

I'm just wondering where I stand - I would have expected a filling to have lasted a lot longer than that. What are the dentist's responsibilities in this situation - if this now needs a crown or an extraction, I'm not really going to be happy paying for the former or losing the latter.

Any thoughts welcome!

why would it now need a crown or extraction?

the dentist will probably just fill it in again...sometimes they can just glue the piece back in...

do you eat toffees a lot?
Well unless the dentist warned you it might not last or you've bitten down hard on something it doesn't seem very long at all. I think you need to make an appt asap before the tooth breaks and tell your dentist about your disappointment calmly, even if you don't feel calm! :o) Hopefully they may just agree to re-do it.

No, I don't eat toffees :)

Unfortunately I don't have the piece that fell out - it happened whilst I was eating and got swallowed... and a hot dog isn't particularly hard...

I'm not really keen to go back to the same dentist!
