To look properly for dresses for the weddings I'm going to I really need to know my body shape, but even after looking on a couple of websites, I'm still unsure . . .

This is the only half decent picture I can find that's on the computer that I can show you;[IMG]http://i51.tinypic.com/5js5c9.jpg[/I

But my measurements, just straight across at the widest/ thinnest part at the FRONT, NOT round my whole body for my shoulders is 42cm, for my waist is 30cm, for my hips is about 38cm, I hope that made sense.

M&S don't just have old lady bras milly, they do some lovely well fitting supportive bras.
i agree with the posts above, definitely ask the shop assistants or take a friend with you. Rowans suggestions are very good.

umm I haven't got a dress yet, I just showed that picture so you can get an idea of my body shape.

Don't you have to compeltely topless for a bra fitting? :/ or can't you do it yourself by measuring yourself?
generally yes but if you were to wear a tight fitting t shirt i'm sure theyu'd let you wear that. you could try bravissimo - great for big boobs and lovely bras

What The Funicular from my measurements my bra size should be 40B I think i'm going to try a different site.
They've measured me with my bra on before. They don't expect to see all your bits, unless you want them too. You need to get fitted though Molly if you want a decent bra. Don't just do it yourself. It's not embarrasing. Just think how many pairs of boobs those women see every day. Lots.
They'll measure you with the bra you're wearing if you don't want to go topless. Then go and get bras for you to try on. Best to go topless though. I get mine from Debenhams.

another's saying 38f
molly go and get someone who knows what they are doing to measure you

IMO I'm probably a 36E now . . .
Molly, just go and get it done by someone trained. It doesn't cost you anything and you don't have to buy any of the bras they suggest. But you'll have a better idea of your actual size.
Just go and get measured...
What's wrong with the dress you're wearing in the pic molly? At least you know it already fits well
lol, only you Molly could make getting a new dress such an hassle!

Do as Sherr said, do what the resto f us do- go in a shop and try some on. I'm 4o, and still don't know what my body shape is and to be blunt, i couldn't care less either. As far as buying owt goes, if it fits, and looks ok, i'm buying it. Adopt that attitude, it's far less stressful.
if you understand your body shape you don't waste time trying on things that will never work for you... I am heavy busted so wrap over dresses no matter how lovely will always make me look like ma larkin in a pinny... and wide necklines make me look like Mark phelps in drag.... strapless...no amount of wiring is coing to let me dance without a disaster,,, makes searching easier as you eliminate half the field before you start

nemesis I've had that dress a few years now and it's too short for me now, I barely felt comfortable wearing it last year to the prom and I think i've grown a bit more since then.

Exactly rowan, plus I know what colours suit me aswell - Ihate trying loads of things on especially if I don't end up finding something good.

Molly - I think dresses that fall away from the body, work well with bigger busts. The above is just an example - don't go for fitted or nipped in waists, go with a dress that is straight up and down and falls away from the body. Nothing fussy, just plain and you can accessorise with a nice bag and shoes.
nice dress den... maybe in a citrus shade to be more on the trend coral or the pantone shade 'honeysuckle' (google it) would be even better
Molly, you sound like you have an hourglass figure - lucky you! It's very 'in' just now with Mad Men and everything and there are lots of 50's style floral dresses out at the moment that would be perfect both for your type of figure and for a wedding.

DEN things that aren't a fitted shape ie going in at the waist look horrible on me and make me look fatter.

Karen I'm not sure if i should go for something that's trendy now but'll be naff next year or a classic, plain dress that I can wear for years. For the former, i have seen nice dresses with butterflies on them . . .
These days I think sizes and such are generally are so up and down that you can't beat trying things on. I'd also recommend going and getting properly measured for a decent bra, especially if you are a larger size and you need to be properly supported.

I'm a "36G" and try to get measured as much as possible as sizes between shops and ranges differ and I find different styles of bra are more comfortable than others. I've got some lovely bras from M&S.

Getting measured isn't embarassing at all, it doesn't bother me being topless for it though I don't think I've had to be very many times, especially more recently they tend to just measure you with your bra on.

I'd suggest getting them to get bras for you to try on and have them fitted then and there too.

I have tried 36G's which are too big or too small and had to try other nearby sizes to get a proper fit, at least if you try them on there it saves you having to either take the bra back or end up keeping it and it not being a decent fit.
