MAGPAS Double Links Quiz

I'm stuck on 3 answers in this quiz and it has to be in by 16th March. Is there any kind soul out there who could give me a helping hand?
No.17 WEDDING ----- (5)/SECRET ----(4)
No.31 DAY -----(5)/-----(5) DATE
No.41 PAPER -----(5)/----(4) CORN
In each answer the 2 missing words will make a new phrase. Both words must start with the same letter. I've seen some suggestions made already which cannot be right because they start with different letters.

Thanks for your really helpful clue, Mamyalynne. As is often the case, I'm kicking myself for not getting it before, especially as I'd got the first part, but despite writing a list of possibilities to go before DATE, hadn't thought of the one your clue so brilliantly suggested.

Like you, I'm sending mine off incomplet eas I can't even think of awild guess for No.41. It was a really interesting and unusual quiz. It's been so absorbing that it's kept me away from the pile of quizzes I should have been working on. Fortunately none of them has to be in for at least a month.
