Baron Brian II is having a busy time with major Sporting Events filling his diary. I thought that his second week as Royal Setter was very honest of him, but (if this was not expected) then he would be difficult to second guess. Following the theme: “Just Walking the Dog” he offered the link words:

(GOLD)FISH Bowl
Lead PENCIL
IRISH Rover
Sit TIGHT

Welcome to new-comer DaisyNonna who failed to pick up points ~ but clearly has the right idea.

Once again, we were subject to a two-minute time warp as the Irish e-mails travel faster around the time of St Patrick’s Day. Christiana was first to SIT TIGHT for TWO POINTS in what proved to be a popular link word. She was closely followed by tearinghair (also opting to Sit Tight) before the next eight entrants (all strong regulars) came and went empty handed.

It took middlestump to be on target with GOLDFISH BOWL together with Sit Tight, to amass an impressive score of FOUR POINTS. He started a beanfeast as centrino promised to Sit Tight and sing the IRISH ROVER for FOUR POINTS, and lysander also sharpened a LEAD PENCIL before singing the very same Irish Rover.

Time marched on and all four links went begging for bonus points. However seekeerz, evsajo (don’t faint), Mrs Ont-ice, wickedtongue, cliffyg and twix123 each stepped forward to add one more point to their previous total. With the exception of twix123, that “previous total” was ZERO. Special mention must be made of jobjockey who impressed the scorer by picking up a double hit ~ albeit a little late in the game (for Two Points).

With no fewer than three entrants on Four Points, I must select one for this week’s honours and that one is lysander. Their combined score over the first two weeks places them in top position on the leader board. Accordingly I nominate lysander as HOT SHOT OF THE WEEK.
*** Let trumpets sound and canons roar ***
*** The peasants cheer and shout “Encore” ***

The League Table after this second week is:

SIX POINTS: lysander
FOUR POINTS: centrino, Christiana, middlestump & owllady
THREE POINTS: jobjockey
TWO POINTS: Jim, mirandasmum, paulineward,, rockfordill, tearinghair & twix123
ONE POINT: Aquagility, cliffyg, deecee131, evsajo, joto, kawakiri, kettledrum, Mrs Ont-ice, seekeerz & wickedtongue

We are half way through the month of March and the League Table is looking quite healthy. However, only four entrants were able to pick up points from each of the first two rounds. How will Week[3] shape up? To find out, you need to be there!

For the present, this is crofter signing off.

Until we meet up again: HAPPY LINKING!

:o)
Thanks Crofter and Baron Brian. Nice to get a couple of points for the first time for a while!
Many thanks for the trumpets and canon.I almost missed the 9am rush by letting my mind wander at that moment.Regards LYSANDER
Have just got up off the floor !!!!! I actually scored a point after weeks and weeks and weeks.
Thank you Baron Brian for your wonderful choice of words and Crofter for working out my score !!!!
Big fat zero for me, then...sigh.
Better hurry and post this before the computer crashes yet again...
Thanks Brian abd crofter.
Well done all the points scorers and Lysander

:-))
Thanks Baron Brian and Crofter, actually scoring points again after a couple of barren months. I must remember to go out on the lash more often before answering the link questions, although I should have got Irish Rover being at a St. Patrick's Night function beforehand notwithstanding that Wild Rover is an Irish song!
