Does anyone know of any books for ideas on Buffett food (cooking for 30 people). Or does anyone have any original, easy recipes for this sort of entertaining? Preferably cold food.

There are some lovely indian "bites" you could try - Onion Bhajis - easy peasy to make the night before and eaten cold on the day (with Raita) for example, or chicken tikka pieces, bombay potato

Or look at Chinese cookbooks/online for Dim Sum and chinese snacks - spring rolls, ribs, wontons, all can be served cold with dips

Or here's a new idea that i plan to use when i next have a get-together, try Tapas cooking - again they are usually easy peasy to make, can be cooked in advance, and served hot or cold - Chorizo in Red wine, Paella, prawns in chilli, patatas bravas etc..... you can make pots of it all and people just help themselves (ala Tapas!). Hope all this is food for thought!
sorry i didn't really answer the question. But i hope my ideas mean you get the book you want (i.e. indian cookery book, chinese cookery book, tapas....)

Thank you, actually its an avenue i hadn't really thought of. Tapas sounds very good.
I got a "tapas for idiots" book from WHSmiths (well it wasn't called that but the recipies are so simple to do it could quite easily be called that - WH had a few to choose from) - just to continue the conversation AND answer your question! :-)
A while back I did a buffet for 20 people .... I had problems getting ideas so I went down to the local library, they had several books of menus and I found one (sorry I can't remember the name) that had a large section on buffets. I was suprised at how many Cookery Books they had ... the section must have contained over 200.
