My OH has managed to get the motor of his Black and Decker chain saw going, the spindle is turning without the chain attached but once the chain is attached, the chain doesn't turn.
Any ideas? Thanks

The guide bar is damaged / corroded / unlubricated?

The chain in damaged / corroded / unlubricated?
Clutch slipping as soon as there a load on it (ie chain in guide bar)? I wouldnt mess about with it too much and certainly dont spend money on it.

Thanks very much both of you, I've given my OH the benefit of your advice.
B&D have a plastic gear inside that gets chewed, especially when chopping through nails! Replace if stripped.

A plastic gear? In a chainsaw? A huge LOL goes out to B&D for that.
Before they had a chain brake, this was a good way of cutting the drive. If it hits steel .. like a nail .. or bone .. it stops : )
