Netbook problem - cursor keeps selecting by itself

Hi
I have an MSI U130 netbook computer with a built-in mouse pad. Whenever I am typing, after a minute or so the cursor moves to wherever the pointer is resting and selects whatevers there! So if for example I forget to move the pointer away from the text of an email, it can just suddenly move to a previous line and continues there, which is a nightmare. I am definitely not accidently brushing the mouse pad or anything.
Any ideas?
Many thanks

See if there's a box you can tick or untick to stop the mouse doing its own thing.
