(sorry for appearing impatient)

AOL........gRRRR
Scammed near £50 out my a/c last month instead of £23....AOL mistake.
When on phone charming lady (Irish) 'persuaded me that I would be better off with their package at £22 a month -same deal -all calls bar the usual free plus broadband.
I would then be able to dispese with BT -currently £14 a month.

Yip -said i would go for it even though it was an 18mth contract.

Today rec'd BT Bill and realised that AOL had done nowt except cut off my phone service with them.

Just phoned -charming lady (Indian) who told me that the the system had accidently cancelled my order.

After a bit of leaning heavy on my part I was offered 1mths free and a credit to my a/c of the equiv of another 2mths (£44) on top of the money they had scammed off me.

I have left it hanging as AOL are rubbish plus if their system goes down they wont do anything as they dont support the router I have.

Right -you know what im gonna ask -who gives the best Broadband,24/7 calls to all landline numbers with the obvious exceptions and customer service in your opinion with a shorter contract.

I have gone on price comparison but i'd like 'horses mouth' type of recommendation please. I thank you :

Dris,

Have you had a look at Talk Talk. I have never had a problem with them, but have just made the mistake of believing the TV adverts for BT and in trying for a faster broadband have landed well and truly in the soup. Transferred to BT with 18 mth contract and still can hardly use broadband.

I have used Talk Talk on 3 lines, 2 in office and one at home. Service years ago was not good as they were overloaded, but since then I cannot fault them. Broadband works at 6.2Mbps, but no one is faster as I am more than 3 miles from the exchange.

With regard to costs, have a look at https://sales.talktal...dband/competitor.html a bit more than £20 p.m. inc VAT
i have always been with plusnet and can recommend it
May I ask, how do you know how fast your broadband is?
Question Author
plusnet so far have been the most helpful...may go back but as im rural I fall into 'category 3' with them so its a fiver more -taking it to £29 which isnt bad at all really.Great Customer Service - pleasure to deal with.
Still hacked off with Sky -you get fantastic deals as a new customer but not an existing one -H is phoning them later -might even cancel and then get the HD,free family package etc as a new customer in my name....
BT still a strong runner (havent phoned them as it says what you get on the packet plus im halfway there with having the line).
Off to try BE...this is a learning curve right enough ....glad I asked for recommendations or it would take forever.

TalkTalk -is that not AOL in disguise? Thats the reason ive avoided them -I may be wrong..
Dris, you should look at virgin media, excellent in every way as compaired to the others you have mentioned, their broardband is the best and fastest in the countrey.
Utility Warehouse, Plusnet and O2 - best phone and broadband packages according to Which?. I'd go with Plusnet.
Question Author
Its 6.5 to 8.5 which is enough for me AYG (think).
Try Virgin -avoided them as they are cable and we dont have cable here but they probably still do a deal.
Just looked at o2 -might phone them as well.
I do want quality and excellent Customer Service above all else -still think I could strike a better deal with plusnet...
You'd think it would be a dawdle.. -its a minefield !!
Thanks all -as you see im still checking in so all posts are a great help :)
Question Author
The best one for me was :
https://sales.talktal...s/broadband/plus.html
The 50% discount was a factor BUT its only a 12mth contract and that swayed me in the end.Good deal -free router and a very fast service (im only 50yds from the Exch) and this seems to be reflected in the 18.2mgb which came up with my postcode and telephone number :)
(like I know what 18.2 means but it seems better than the 6.5-8.5mgb I was being quoted before with the ones who were offering a max of 10mgb for a much higher price as opposed to 24mgb im gonna get).
Thanks all........phew !!!
(the others recommeneded were also excellent -some were way too expensive bcause of my semi rural locality but great none the less)
