How much would someone need to know about guns to recognise that a handgun someone else was holding was a single-shot handgun?

Is it an easy thing to tell for someone who knows a bit about guns or would you need to be an expert? Thanks in advance.

Strange question! from which end of the gun are you asking this?

Anyhow, somebody that knows a little about guns could spot most single shot guns for what they are.

joggerjayne, I don't know how many single shot handguns there are but my question wasn't very clear. I wanted to know if it was EVER possible rather than ALWAYS possible

Thank you ChuckFickens for your answer
To my knowledge the only currently manufactured single shot hand guns are used for target practice but there are varients that cna drop big game. Either would be fairly easy to spot if you are au fait with guns. Why do you want to know if you don't mind me being nosey?
Easy really .. with a little knowledge.
