its in control panel I think (I have a mac, and cant really recall windows settings) You need to tell the computer that you have a UK, not a US keyboard
Morning, go to start settings control panel then click the keyboard icon, look to see if it has been set to English US instead of English UK or similar. (I think)

Thanks for both answers, all sorted now, Strange it changed by itself?
"Strange it changed by itself? "
Not strange at all.
If you go back to the languages section, you'll notice a button called "key settings".
In there, you'll find that the is a hot-key combination to switch between languages.
You probably accidentally hit the combination.
The best way to prevent the problem recurring, is to uninstall all the keyboards, except the one that you actually use.

Thanks rojash, I think thats what I have done!
I highlighted the English(american) and pressed remove, after adding English(united Kingdom), so now there is only one option...!
hopefully this would have sorted it for good.
That's correct thing to do. Then, you will not see the icon any more in system tray (keyboard language selector)
