Calling all windows 2000 experts.  I would like a Google and a Yahoo icon on my favourites links instead of the internet explorer icon.

Is there any way of doing this?

This is how to do it on Windows XP, assume 2000 is the same.

Right click on the entry on the favorites list.

From the menu choose "properties"

From the window that comes up select the "Web Document" tab.

Press the "Change Icon" button

Thanks for trying to help! I have since found out that these are called favicons and I believe that if you wish to create your own, ie. Google,Yahoo or any other icon you have to do one from scratch yourself or have a special programme to make them and it's quite complicated.

Methinks I'll not bother and just stick to the ordinary ones that are on the computer!

they are indeed favicons. they just let you add a bit more personalisation to sites, for companies that want to do that.

in internet explorer, just add the site as a favourite again; IE should get the favicon for you. when you erase temp. internet files though, the favicons are gone!

firefox: the same process: add it as a bookmark normally. but they stay even after erasing your cache.
