why would a applicant for a passport need to go to their local passport office?

Or if you needed to get it quickly. If you go to your local one with all the relevant paper work, you can get it that day, it takes all day but you can get it.

thanks dave & pixi ahhh i did wonder if maybe it was for a first passport application. i am going to get one for my son (7 weeks old) bl00dy £50!!!!!! :-((

couldn't see anything on the home office IPS website why you would visit your local office though.
so who were you, pixi?!

when you get the picture done for the passport, make sure the baby's eyes are open.
my friends has twin grandsons and they were asleep when the photos were taken and the passport office rejected them , we had to poke the poor little mites awake and took photos of them bawling their heads off - these were accepted.
