Can anyone recommend a hoover that is good for picking up dog hairs.
I have a border collie (my first dog) and did not realise how much hairs they shed and my carpets are totally covered in them.

I have wooden floors with rugs scattered about and at the moment I have a Henry which is great except the hose keeps detaching, Is a Miele cylinder any good on wooden floors?
A Meile is good for anything, you can't get a better vacuum cleaner
Yes, and if you want a very, very good washing-machine (and don't mind paying premium price), Miele can't be bettered.
miele or bosch, the germans have it.
As a slight add on question, is there a good hand held one to get cat hairs off sofas?

I do put a blanket over the sofa but people always take it off to sit down and don't put it back again so the sofa ends up covered.
why do you need hand held ? the hose on my miele does the sofas well.
Cos it's a pain in the backside lugging the henry out of the cupboard every day.
ah, the miele is quite compact and lightweight.

i have a henry and a hand held in the garage - mainly for the car and for builders bits/decorating etc - but wouldn't say handhelds are really that good, you'd get better results with a penis pump!*

* not that i have tested this theory in any way
ha ha ha.

Not sure we have a penis pump lying round the house, but if I come accross one I will give it a try. On the cat hair of course!
Nothing gets up all the dog hairs. A big damp sponge is the only real solution.
