e.on advice for pipes!

i was just on the phone to e.on and a recorded message came on and said, if you have frozen pipes all you need to do it pour hot water over them to unfreeze them, just how are you meant to do that if the pipes are frozen and no water available?

It's usually worthwhile to get to know your neighbours if you have any & assuming they're not frozen up too!
a hair drier might be a better idea
If you're feeling 'flush' you could always use bottled water....
Surely that advice is wrong anyway because hot water on frozen pipes could cause them to split? You are supposed to warm them gently with a hairdryer.
It's ok with plastic ppes, but if they're the old copper sort they may burst.
