I have been up for most of the night with aching joints and muscles, chills, fever, sore throat, headache and cough. I think it is the flu. Do I need to phone my GP for advice as I have a pre existing chronic lung condition, or should I just treat it as I normally would with ibuprofen and rest?

Daffy, I'd give GP a phone. Just to put your mind at ease if nothing else.

Take care and get shot of that bug soon xx

Thanks for your answer alba. I don't feel any worse than I would with flu without lung disease present, but then it only started in the early hours of today so i'm sure i'll feel worse before I feel better! I will get my other half to nip into the GP surgery later on this morning for some advice, he may be able to talk to a nurse or doctor instead of just a busybody receptionist that way.
It would be worth getting some reassurance, daffy - did you quality for a flu jab, with yoru condition? I hope you feel better soon - there is a lot of it about.
If you have had your flu jab, then treat as you suggested with Ibuprofen and monitor the situation for 24 hours.

If you haven´t had you flu jab....then contact your GP.

I never have the flu jab boxtops even though I should. I am pretty much housebound so have little chance of catching any bugs that are going around. The last time I was hit hard with flu was the Christmas and new year of 1999/2000. Me and all 3 of my kids were laid low for 2 weeks by that one.
