I have recently bought a second hand Sony Vaio laptop model PCG-K315M, Its got Windows XP running on it, I'v tryed looking up online to find out if it will work without messing up my laptop, I have 3ghz pentium pro4 and 1GB RAM so Plenty of memory to run it but I know there can be issues with sound and picture, Someone online said there are no update drivers for my model for win 7.

(1gb of ram is not plenty of memory to run windows7, it's the bare minimum)
As Chuck says, 1GB is the absolute bare minimum RAM required to run Windows 7. And this means just that - to run Windows 7. If you intend to actually run any application software on it, you'll need 2GB at the very least...

Windows 7 uses less resorces than Vista just slightly more than xp there for all these 1gb pcs that come with vista installed from new should not be able to cope your saying? dont be silly, Iv run windows 7 on some of the most basic old computers with less than 1gb memory! 512mb pc's can run windows7 I know the memory will run the OS thats not my question! thanx for trying!
Can you not go online using that computer, go to the windows 7 site, and run the diagnostic to see?
to explain what happens when you run windows without enough memory...

When windows runs out of RAM (which is fast) it will swap the contents of it memory onto a file on your hard drive (which is a lot slower) to make room for what it needs in RAM, then when it needs the info it's put on the hard drive back into the RAM the computer needs to read the info back off the hard drive (slow) so it can use it again.

So although you can run windows with less than the recommended amount of RAM you will notice that the hard drive will be accessing all the time as the computer needs to swap stuff back and forth between the RAM and the hard drive, this has a serious detrimental effect on the overall speed of the computer.

Windows likes RAM and the more you throw at it the better it runs (upto about 3.5GB if you have a 32bit version of windows)
