I have had a pain in my pelvis for 2 weeks now, last week it was also in my back shoulders and legs, it eased over the weekend slightly and I went to work sunday but was in pain all day, monday at work it seemed ok and it hasn't bothered me at all until I woke up this morning in agony with it again, it is like my whole pelvis aches and also for some wierd reason my left arm has the same pain now too, I'm not pregnant yet every question on the NHS helpline seems to be for pregnant people, I;ve phoned the NHS helpline about an hour ago and they are ringing me back, is it possibly just a mild flu? It's agony at the moment but I haven'y taken any pain killers yet, I want to know what is causing it before I dull the pain.

Nothing sinister or anything else comes to mind.....bizarre symptoms.

Take pain killers and monitor the situation.

I've had a call back from the helpline and the nurse thinks it could be related to my underactive thyroid with the joint pain and skeletal pain so I've to see the GP asap to get an updated thyroid function test, my sister was diagnosed with SLE in 1991 and I have had discoid lupus at one point,
<<<<it could be related to my underactive thyroid with the joint pain and skeletal pain <<<

Didnt know that there was an association........muscular pains and an underactive thyroid, but not skeletal or joint pain.
Question Author
I certainly feel the same as I did when I was diagnosed with the underactive thyroid in 1991, my fingers are painful when I make a fist which is the symptom the nurse seemed to pick up on
Question Author
Oh well, I know what it is now, just been seen by my GP and he said it is a viral infection in the muscles or M.E. and he said 'You've heard of M.E.' as a statement and I said yes but I didn't really know what he meant,
Myalgic Encephalopathy................Google it.
Question Author
He said take paracetamol and plenty of fluids, I;ve been and bought some Bacardi. : (
Question Author
I've googled it as M.E. and he's spot on, it;s the 4th time I have had these same pains in the last few months, including last week when I thought it was flu.
Question Author
I can't take ibuprofen as I suffer from reflux and he's given me a form or various bloods at the hospital tomorrow,
That makes more sense than the "non-nonsensical NHS direct" diagnosis.
Question Author
the nurse on there sounded about 14 and kept coughing and going ....errrrr..... all the time lol
and ABers ask...."Why do people ask for advice on AB?"
Question Author
What do you mean? I thought it was flu.
Dotty, I hope you get some answers and some respite from the pain soon.♥
You have misunderstood me................never mind.
Question Author
thanks mamya, I think it is only because this pain has kept coming back that the GP was able to diagnose this ME thing, I've read abit more about it now and I have every symptom apart from the sweating! At least I know why I get palpatations at night now! Also why I work for 5 days straight and then just want to sleep and do nothing after work and on my day off!

I thought you meant I was stupid sqad, cos I didn't understand the woman on the phone
I had similar problem few years back, it went on for months on and off. Eventually I was referred to hospital, had scans which showed pain was worse when I was ovulating. I then had an exploratory camera to check inside and outside the fallopian tubes. There was slight inflammation but nothing major. The consultant started suggesting that sometimes using pain killers can cause constipation which causes lower back pain. I was not happy, I had at times been close to passing out. However willing to try anything, I drank more water and bought fibogel, a natural sphagnum wheat husk, and the pain went after that. Now when I have pain I up my fibre in my diet and drink more. No one was more shocked than me that it could cause such pelvic pain. My groin used to be red hot and I was in agony. Don't use to many pks they can make things worse. Try voltarol rub. Hope you feel better soon.
