I'm going to buy the boyf a games consol for his birthday in feb but I don't know what is the best one to get. wii, xbox, playstation, are there any more? i'm totally dense about the whole thing and need help!!

if its for a bloke then I would go for xbox or playstation, wii is more of a girl console

if it's a girly console the i could join in i suppose! can you play shooting games on the wii?

yes, but you cannot play anything too graphic intensive, most of the bloke games are available on the xbox/playstation.

My boys don't tend to use the Wii that much - think it is quite difficult to play shooting games on it. They both have x boxes and there are loads of different types of games that the three eldest play (they are 10, nearly 7 and 5).

cazz is right, most of the top games are for PS or Xbox, Wii is more for fun or party stuff.

More games for ps3. You can also buy ps2 and play them which are as cheap as chips.

xbox 360 and ps 3 would be the better ones to go for, he wont thank you for buying an old console

my eldest son loves his PS3 if thats any help! yes the PS3 is the newest version

PS2 (and 1) are the old ones so they are avaiable really cheaply but none of the PS3 games will play on them (or vice versa) so only get a PS2 if you're short of money and know that none of the new releses will play on it..

I would say Xbox. My brothers been asking me to get him Kinect for his Xbox.

most of the lads I know have xbox360s, they like the online gaming, some swapped ps3's for xboxes.

if i was you i would try and find out which one he prefers in my experience you are either a playstation fan or xbox 360 fan just try and get it out of him without givin the game away that your thinking of getting him one
