I think this was covered last week on here- maybe do an AB search on Washing Machines.
I think you can get spray to remove mould. White vinegar and soda crystals on a hot wash were also recommended. You certainly need a cloth and plenty of elbow grease. I've used bleach but maybe that damages the seal
First choice is a mould-remover (try Robert Dyas). Cheaper would be DILUTED bleach - Wipe on ,let dry and repeat a few times.
....the white vinegar OR washing-soda hot wash is more for removing gunge from drum and associated tubes.
Maybe this can help

You can also buy a washing machine cleaner - I think DR. Beckman's - which works like a dishwasher cleaner. Just use it in a hot wash (without clothes!) and some of it on a cloth to wipe round the sealer.
There was an article on how to get black mould off washing machine ... for the washing machine but also for getting clothes really clean

If your clothes washing machine presently has an odor use some of the above methods to isolate the cause
