If you buy M/S Office & Student for three users ,do they need to be all in the same house

you could phone or email them, but all the stuff I can find says "one household"

You own the software & g'kids use it on their PCs as your network.
Most people on here will know I'm pretty strict when it comes to software licensing and keeping within the law (it's my job to be strict about it)

But in this case, don't worry about what the precise terms of the agreement are, even if it does say one household as long as you only install the agreed amount of copies they will never know and there is not a court in this land that would be interested in such a minor violation (even if it is a violation)
