ankou >if the plods charged in on horses<

on sky news web site it said they had done this but they have now put up a new report
Let's face it, come hell or high water, the Police will always be the villains of the peace no matter how they manage these situations.

They're either too heavy handed, totally uncaring, completely manipulated by "big brother", absolutely apathetic towards the democratic right to protest etc etc. Not my opinions, but this is what we hear all the time when these demonstrations take place.

The thing is that the numerous detractors of whatever way the Police carry out their duties never have a so called solution or alternative which, if any actually existed, would have been implemented by the Police long before now.

The truth is that in these situations, once the novelty of the protest has worn off, there is always that element who are only there in the first place hell bent on anarchy and violence, and unfortunately the innocent and peaceful demonstrators are always caught up in the maelstrom because the troublemakers are literally ensconced in the middle of them stirring up as much trouble and violence as possible to which the Police are duty bound to respond.
drf, yeah i've seen all the websites with videos and photos. i've also been in a situation where i have seen a charge by the mounted police, and i'm not convinced by the "evidence". a horse trotting towards you and mking your bow tie go wonky aint exactly the charge fo the light brigade in my book.

they may well all be off home now, but no doubt totting up their claim forms for police brutality and some compo.
sammo - apologies, but............Ankou, good to see you back !!
All over.

In the New Year

The working class will still be talking about "the bloody good pissups" and awaiting the arrival of their credit card statements, half of the middle classes will be eulogising over "a wonderful family get-together," the other half wondering what to do with the unwanted and totally inappropriate presents whilst the upper class and privileged will be returning from their break in the sun.

Life will then go on to the next crisis
i am thinking of blocking my letter box up so they can't post any bills

Uni hasn't broken up for Christmas yet, this lot should be in class.
DrF - your experiences with the police have really made you bitter haven't they?
I suppose it is relative, I have always been impressed by the service I have recieved when it has been called upon.
