I have a new laptop (3 weeks old) and am a little baffled about the battery running down whilst not in use. Most of the time I run it via the charger, but if I use battery power I always fully charge the battery .My problem is that if I do not use the laptop for a couple of days, the battery is down to about 75% when I switch it back on.If my laptop is turned off, how can the battery power go from 100% to 75%?I assume that this means if I do not use it for several days, the battery would run out completely.

All batteries have a small leakage current and will lose power over time. This is why, when you leave a torch battery in for a while it will leak and spread gunge over everything.

Fortunately, modern laptop batteries are a bit better and do not leak as much as that type and yes over time it will discharge although the rate of discharge may slow down after a few days.

I would not expect a laptop battery to lose its power this quickly.  Query your customer support line.  Is it possible that the laptop goes into sleep or power saver mode instead of shutting down?
