When I connect my laptop to my printer, the printer is recognised and the printing queue shows the correct documents etc., but the printer doesn't work.
Any ideas of what I may be doing wrong?

The printer and the laptop are both HP, though the printer's much older, it was originally part of a desktop set up. I'm probably being totally stupid, I thought that if the computer recognised the printer, then the drivers were in place, is this not the case?
"I thought that if the computer recognised the printer, then the drivers were in place, is this not the case? " - No, it's not.
Almost all printers require you to install the drivers BEFORE connecting the printer.
Disconnect the printer
Remove any drivers that have been installed
Download the latest drivers from the HP site
Run the installation, and connect the printer when told to during the installation.
