Getting cooking oil off clothes.

I'm very partial to a fry for my breakfast most mornings. I've noticed recently that a lot of my t-shirts have got marks on them that look like it is from a drop of water or something but they are permanent. I'm pretty sure these marks are being caused by the cooking oil spattering from the pan while I'm cooking. Is there any way to get rid of these spots by cleaning rather than resorting to having to wear a apron?

In the 'good old days' (before 'health & safety' concerns came to the fore) you could buy trichlorethylene dry cleaning fluid (under the brand name 'Dabitoff') which would do what you want.

In the absence of such a product, I can only suggest acetone (which, until somebody bans it, can still be purchased as nail polish remover). That, combined with pads of kitchen tissue on either side of the oil deposit should get rid of the fat. However, if the hot oil has actually bleached the colour from the t-shirt, removing the fatty deposit won't fix the problem.

It may be too late if they have been like this for a while but next time, rub some fairy liquid into the stain, leave overnight, then wash as normal!
Soak the whole T Shirt in cooking oil. Voila..
Prevention being better than cure, I'd start wearing an apron (even if it does spoil your macho image).
try putting brown paper over the spot and then iron over the top
I agree with Chazza, I use that method every time and it works.
Worth knowing: Which? Best buy detergent for grease and fat stains is Ariel Excel Gel biological.
Stain Devils - the cooking oit and fat one
*oil*
Put Ace Liquid Stain Remover directly unto the Grease spots and then wash in washing machine, and wear an apron when frying, there are plenty of trendy aprons about at the moment.

beckmans stain slayer spray...uses orange oil to displace the heavier fat /oil marks get it from sainsburys absolutely brilliant and doesn't discolour fabrics works on wool and silk too
i use an Oxy spray, to spray on the clothes and work into the mark before throwing the clothes in the washer. Usually works.
I use a spray spot remover and shove it in the wash (I use the Amway one but anything similar will do). This happens to me all the time, I am a very messy eater - particularly when we eat in front of the t.v. as we often do after work.

Thanks for all the responses. I think I'll close my eyes and point, there seems to be a lot of options.

Best bet is to do your fry-up in the nude, although you will have to be prepared for the odd bout of scorched nipple.
