I ripped about 4 inches of my car side door trim off when i was reversing out of my drive, i caught it on the gate. I have tried using super glue and double sided adhesive strong tape to stick it back on but it only holds it on for a few days and then it starts to hang off again, the trim has a slight bent in it so always pulling away from the door, forcing the glue and adhesive tape to split apart eventually, anyone know a really strong adhesive that will permantly sort the problem out for good and stop the car from looking scruffy, cheers Kev

Make sure the trim/attachment point is totally grease/dirt free first by cleaning it well with meths (NOT white spirit or WD40 or anything else oily). Then re-attach it using epoxy resin (eg. Araldite or the one Wilkinson's sell) make sure the piece of trim held securely in place with masking tape until the epoxy resin is fully cured (usually about 16 hours -...

If the trim is kinked you may be better getting a new one.
Get down to your local scrap yard, no chance of anything holding that kinda weight unless it was welded, unless any1 has any other ideas.

Hi guys thanks for ya quick replies, yes the trim is kinked, but the car is only a p reg astra premier so dont really want to pay out too much on it for new trims etc as i havent long paid out £270 on it for a new head gasket and fan, do you think i might get away with trying a tube of No more nails? lol
Take it completely off, straighten it out and stick it back with sealant, but keep pressing on it for at least 15 min.

Make sure the whole kaboosh is covered up to protect it from rain/dew while it sets.
A very interesting answer. I never knew that you could do other things with meths apart from drink it.

What u pay on the bits u need, u would get a perfect 1 for £5 - £10, always barter lower than whst you want to pay, then u get it around same price, watever u decide goodluck.
Stick it on as far back as possible on the door - on the Astra those trims have a habit of catching on the front when you open the door.

Masterseal ... Proper body trim adhesive. You can buy a tube for a frame gun for a few quid.

NP .. That's what bodyshops use now .. A lot of manufacturers bond on trim now. Some come with integral single-use tape.
