I was in London for the weekend and it took ages to get through security but I think I would prefer to feel safe !

it seems they are being meticulous about checking belts but less so about checking out bombs checked in to the hold. This is perhaps the wrong way round. I wonder how many explosive belts they have found in the last decade?

Yep I would love to know - or maybe not !! It must be a difficult job
the security people of in a bit of a no-win situation, everybody complains of the delays etc but if something gets through and causes a disaster it a case of "why didn't the security checks find it" I know these checks can never be 100% but I'd rather be delayed because people are trying their best then dead
I'd like some consistency. Last time I flew out of Heathrow my security guy required our line to remove belts and shoes, whereas the next line didn't have to. Someone asked him why and he said "this is how I do things".
Agree with McMouse, I have no objection to stripping off if necessary in the name of safety, but I'd like it to be consistant. Sometimes I have to take my shoes off, other times not, sometimes I'm allowed a handbag and handluggage, othertimes not! Even it out!
I think with any public transport nowadays, you're at greater risk from a T-Mobile style flashmob than an Al-Qaeda terrorist attack.
