MM Links Solutions October 2010 [Week 4]

For this, his penultimate week, Strix held to his promise to an extent by relaxing on the obscurity of some of his link words. Judge for yourself as I now disclose his links for Week 4 as follows:

Club CLASS
Flight DECK
Guest BEER
Jail BAIT

I picked out a new name amongst the regulars in *dnaan*, who had the right idea but failed to get onto the scoreboard. Do note however that we limit our predictions to words at least with four letters and at most eight, so your *guest appearance* had no chance to score for you. Better luck next time!

There was a first entry hit for rockfordill, when he stepped on to the FLIGHT DECK for an early TWO POINTS. He was closely followed by gen2 warning everyone of the presence of JAIL BAIT ~ and tearinghair extolling the virtues of the GUEST BEER. Each picked up their TWO POINTS and the game stood with three of the link words already spotted within the first five entries.

More was to follow, when ulysses100, beejay1124 and slaney replicated one of these links within the prescribed time limit to qualify for their Two Points. However, it took grannydi travelling CLUB CLASS to find the final link and open the game right up. There was a natural break of six minutes between Entrants #18 and #19 which is where I drew closure on the window for bonus points. In a late flurry, both Christiana and middlestump registered Two Points.

However, they straddled cliffyg, who managed the double with both Guest Beer and Jail Bait for a well-deserved score of Four Points which qualifies him to be awarded the title as HOT SHOT OF THE WEEK.

The crowds go wild and shout “Encore”

Thereafter came a steady string of single hits for seekeerz, Magyar, Elspeth, barb7771, Mrs Ont-ice and joto, but worthy of special mention is wickedtongue, who managed to find two hits before the game came to a gentle close.

With only one week to go, the top of the League Table is beginning to look quite interesting:

SIX POINTS: Aquagility, grannydi, owllady, roslyn251254, tearinghair & ulysses100
FOUR POINTS: evsajo, gen2, jan1956, patchett, rockfordill & wickedtongue
THREE POINTS: ChrisHewat, Elspeth & Mr Ont-ice

The top 14 scorers are all ex-MM Link Champions ~ and some are multi-ex-champions!

What will happen next week is anyone’s guess.
