USA dental anaesthetics

Does anyone know what dentists in the US use to anaesthetise patients having tooth extraction?

Just to clarify... I mean what they use to knock them out, not a local anaesthetic.

They show them the bill first. That is usually enough to induce a temporary coma.

daffy...it varies widely from state to state but oral Valium or Triazolam is a common sedative

I went to the dentist's this morning (sorry daffy, this is just a grumble not an answer to your question).... hallo - £40 check teeth £40 pour water from the squichy thing all down the back of my neck £40 tissue to wipe it up £7 - there you go, have a nice day, pay on the way out. I shouldn't grumble as I am really very pleased with my dentist, but as I was picking some very nice blackberries from the bush overhanging his car park I though - Ya, something for my money!

Lol, i'm glad my grandchildren (still very young) are bright little things, I hope and expect good things from all of them!

Here in the U.S. it's usually Lidocaine... but it's pretty rare to find any general anathesia used. Nowadays most sedation dentists use conscious sedation due to reduced risk to the patient... depending on the time required Zaleplon or Triazolam is used...

Which of those do you think these children had been given Clanad?

I have had bad reactions to dental anaesthetics before, I always wake up crying hysterically for some reason.
