peugeot 307 question on brake pedal

hi
my peugeot 307 when braking, the pedals "push back" upwards, very odd, garage just done mot mechanic couldn't shed any light, anyone know what could be causing this?

Is car a diesel?
Surely you don't have to press the brake pedal far Emma? Your car's brakes are servo assisted so you should only have to just touch the pedal and it wll only move half an inch, if that. I can't quite see how you have so much movement that you can feel the pedal pushing or moving back up against your foot.

It sounds to me that there's not much wrong with your brakes.
I think you may have brake judder or its simply the ABS preventing a braking wheel lock.
