Geo Osborne is going to reduce the benefits bill by an extra £4bn by getting the unemployed to take jobs:

but Boris Johnson says we need more immigrants to tackle the skills shortage in London. Why can't they be found from those already here?

She'd get her scripts for free..
Dotty, your shop sound like an easy target, people are always shoplifting there.
It's not an easy target, there are 15 cameras and a security barrier, she was just an idiot and thought she could just take what she wanted. No amount of deterrant works with someone so desperate as her, what job could she ever hold down?
ummmm...your spouse is not your entire family...your parents record will be taken into the equation within the 20 year rule.
BRIGHT SPARK....how complicated would that be to prove? Especially in this day and age of step families.
Tax payments go back a lot longer than 20 years. Its up to the claimants to prove the claim. At the moment we subscribe to a system where people can claim for life without donating a penny.Instead or finding fault with my system you should help to refine it and put your education to good use.The benefit system will soon crash and that will mean that the true needy cases will get nothing and the scum will shrug their shoulders and say ..it was good while it lasted.
Re-open the workhouses. If you don't work you go and live there or starve. I'd bet people would soon find jobs.
As unskilled work moves to cheap labour markets in the far East more and more jobs require skills

There are too few people in the UK with good skills - these are the immigrants that Boris wants

There are too many British people with no qualifications that can't do these jobs - the army can't take them all.

Of course we could have them all sweeping the streets - Only George has slashed public spending

I wonder how many of the unemployed are skilled to do the job but employers refuse to take them because they are over 45. This makes a mockery of this country when the retirement age is going up to 68. Unless this single reason is not tackled the unemployment will remain high. I have known people in this position. The law of age discrimination is not enough companies should be brought to book.

Many companies are crying out for immigrants including illegal ones to take on unfilled unskilled vacancies. Why is this? They say they cannot get locals to do the work. Why? Are they paying below the minimum wage? To tackle both the immigration and the jobless its important that this anomoly is sorted out.

The best solution above was to time limit benefits and after that issue just food vouchers so they don't starve.
And why do companies outsource abroad ? Isn't that a possible cause of skilled people going on benefits ?

So many skilled, educated people out there who have faced redundancies going on benefit and they get treated like $hit along with young no good for nothing teens who can't be bothered working...who deserves the right treatment at Job Centres between the two ?
