Chest Infection Ribs Hurt ???

As title really

Been the doctors today as been having problems with my asthma which normally only rears its head with chest infection..

But why on earth is my ribs hurting??? Im not coughing much but feels like ive been through 5 rounds with a boxer. Its only my left side too in one specific spot but sheesh it hurts.. Any ideas??

Been put on antibs and steroids too

Yep, that's a chest infection. Don't be surprised in you get pains in your upper back too.
The pleura (lining on your lungs and ribs) is probably inflammed, and is causing the pain that you are having. I suggest that you should take Paracetamol regularly for the next day or so; Brufen would be better, but as you have Asthma, it may not suit you. If you do not feel better in 24 - 48 hours, you should return to your GP.

Thanks guys wasnt sure.. cant take brufen's makes me have asthma attacks n certainly dont
need more of them lol
Could well be a viral infection in which case your ribs or indeed any chest muscles would be painful, although your doctor does feel that it is bacterial as he has prescribed antibiotics.
