Avatars

I am a computer ignorance so how do I get a picture to use as an Avatar. I thought Gravatar would have a list for me to choose from but apparantly I have to make my own so what do I do. Can anyone help me in simple terms.

Just find a picture you like anywhere on the net (or do a search on Avatars) and then on Gravatar you can paste the www. address of the picture.
Or right click on the pic and save it as a picture file on your PC- then on Gravatar you have the option to link to a file on your PC. Or scan in a picture you like and do the same.
