if the plugs are not visiable and you cant see the distrubutor cap to trace them back to the plugs u will probably do aswell to nip it to a local garage and just ask them to show you?

they are normally situated about half way down the main lump of the engine and can be on either side of it! (im no expert just played with a few cars) hope this helps or someone with more knowledge will post to help!!

thanks, its getting booked in first thing tomorrow. it cut out 6 times on my way home tonight and that was after trying to get it to start for 15 minits :( but thanks for the fast reply :)
if its that bad then you will most probably need leads/rotar arm and distrubitor cap to! (maybe worth having full service done? cost few pounds more but keeping your car serviced regular can save you lots of time and money in future!)

ty, i took the car in and it came up with 3 faults. thay were all electral. it was the sencers that controle the rev's and the air intake thay are things that would fail the mot. witch is in novermber anyway. its going to cost 200 ish :( but thats just an estamit at the mo the guys keeping the car over night coz he reset the computer parts to see if the faults came back and thay did so hes going to see what parts he needs to buy 2morrow..

if he is actually going to change sensors and then reset engine management modules to set sensors to correct setting thes that isnt a bad price, but i would make sure you ask for original sensors back as i had trouble with my brothering laws car, the replaced these sensor on a fuel line apparently, but the problem persisted and it turned out there were 2 things wrong, number 1  a little plastic filter in pipe line (cost bout 1.50 and 5 mins to replace) the other was a buildup in the carb, whice i bottle of engine treatmeant n a little bit of a race cleared the crap, ( i havent seen car so i dont know just little bits from my experience may help you save a few quid or worst still paying for parts that either didnt need replacing or havent actually been replaced! i hope its all it is and garage sort it swiftly for you like i say just be sure they can produce the parts they are changing!

also if its a fuel injection model make sure they check the injectors and flush them! as they can clog easily and will produce juddering effects hard to start and also cutting out!!
