charging a flat mate for damage done

My current flat mate is moving out at the end of this month, and i've noticed over the months that she's lived here she's put a few scratches on my wooden floor, i'm not sure how the majority got there but i know that she dented my living room floor by throwing a playstation handset down in anger. Last week i told her could she be careful when she starts to move her stuff out as i don't want anymore marks on my floor. She did say sorry but i got the feeling she was pissed with me for telling her off. now just a few days later there's a big line going down her bedroom floor, which she hasn't said anything about. I get the feeling she's done it on purpose out of jealousy and because i told her off. I think i should charge her for the damage, but haven't any idea how much. any suggestions would be appreciated xx

she may have just done it by accident..if she is moving out she may have dragged something across the floor that had a stud on the bottom

surely if it was deliberate shed have waited for the day before leaving?

how is her eyesight? maybe she hasnt even noticed it...

For future reference - a passport is worthless as security for anything - it's the property of the Crown, not the holder.
If your flatmate went to the police, you would be in trouble for stealing crown property.
A deposit of several hundred pounds works much better.

that's a good point joko, thinking about it i think i did over react a little to it.
yes, i know it was really stupid of me not to take a deposit vagrant, but i just thought that if she did end up stealing things from me i could go to the police with her passport, and the fact that it would cost £80 to replace would make her be a little more careful with the flat, but obulessly not in this case. Still you learn from your mistakes don't you
