My brother is a Christian and believes that atheists, jews, moslems, hindus and homosexuals are damned to hell. He also believes that homosexuality is a sin equal to murder. I understood that Christianity is about tolerance, forgiveness and loving others. I would be interested to hear from other Christians how his beliefs fit in.

I have long thought that in the ordinary person religious belief is a mild and harmless form of insanity.
Alas, too often it becomes obvious that in quite a number people it is neither mild nor harmless. That nasty book, the Bible, has a lot to answer for.

Sorry about the duplication!
probably worth saying twice
There are a number of 'sins', including adultery and homosexuality, which are condemned in the OT. Why do modern day Christians seem to ignore adultery and direct all their ire at homosexuality/
I don't know anyone who ignores adultery...
"A bigot is a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices"

Sounds like every theist in history to mee
The Free Presbyterians stage protests outside theatres which are showing programmes that they deem are promoting the gay lifestyle And picket Gay Pride Marches for the same reason.
I've never heard of them protesting about adultery.
That's 'cos some of them like it I expect, Sandy. :o)
I agree, Naomi. Methinks they do protest too much.
Sandy - People do have double standards, unfortunately. Apart from what you said I noticed that people do not mind adultery by less or never known people but if someone famous is caught at it then there would be so much fuss about that. Think about sportsmen, politician, and other famous faces. Why is that?
I ignore adultery, nothing to do with me mate.
Keyplus, there's a fuss about famous people involved in adultery because the public are interested in what the famous do. They aren't interested in what Joe Bloggs does.
So if someone less known does it then it is acceptable but if Tiger wood, John Terry, Bill Clinton does it then people do not like. Strange. But I am not surprised since once known as “Little Bustard” is now a “love child” so time has changed somewhat and would change more. Until then all famous or at-least known people should do more to hide it. I guess.
I like this editing as how cleverly it changed “B4stard” into “little bustard”. But Love child is still there.
It's not acceptable by anyone in my opinion...
When adultery is reported in the press it's to fuel the prurient interests of the readers and sell more copies of the paper. You rarely see it condemned.
So the press don't make some people look like dirty dogs? They do from what I read...
Keyplus, I didn't say it's acceptable for unknown people to do it - I said the public aren't interested.
