NYC building council just to first steps in the ultimate approval of a 13 story Muslim CulturalCenter/Mosque in the foot print of Ground Zero. I think this is wrong. Does this make me a bad person?

What's next an American Cultural center in Hiroshima? A statue of Hitler at Auschwitz or a Japanese Center at pearl harbor?

In the footprint of ground zero? You mean on the same site, what about the memorials?
I wouldn't imagine you thinking that making you any more of a bad person than myself who can't find it in me to get worked up about it. It's just your opinion, no more and no less. I personally don't see how a mosque has anything to do with 9/11, most muslms are not terrorists and neither do they endorse terrorsim. Most religions are practiced peacefully but there are always those who take it to extremes and I don't see how this this then transfers to the ones that practice peacefully and harmlessly. Equally, I can see how some would find the site of this building in bad taste and offensive to their own memories/experiences. It's subjective.

But ultimately I'd say we're probably both good people regardless of our opinions (or lack of in my case) in this. :c)

Maybe it's to help promote the "healing process" but I have to admit I am surprised it has got that far.
Yes it is wrong and an insult to the victims. The WTC atrocities were carried out in the name of Islam,it's very insensitive place to build it.
It's just like the Scottish Governments decision to release the Libyan who murdered 270 people in the Lockerbie bombing.
Politicians who think they know better.
Eng - after 9/11 weren`t they talking about a Peace Park in the grounds of the World Trade Centre? What happened to that idea? Mind you, I always said that wouldn`t happen because that area must be one of the most expensive pieces of real estate in NY. Money talks I guess
No it doesn`t make you a bad person

WBA, is that the Libyan bomber who only had "months" to live?

Thats the scumbag Elvis..Just celebrated a year of freedom.

maybe I should have said in the "shadow" instead of footprint. There is a building there that was affected by the attack and the victims' families and other groups were trying to have declared a landmark in order to avoid it being torn down to make way for the Mosque. The building did not meet landmark status, so that will be the 1st step. It will be years until it is all said and done, but I feel for the family members. It seems like salt in the wound. Though I know in my head that most Muslims are NOT terrorists, my heart goes out to the family members.

My friend's brother was on that flight that was shot down over Scotland and I am equally horrified by the release of that man, and now they are unwrapping some layers that show BP was influential in his release....Like they don't have enough trouble.

SJ- I agree that by the time anything is done there will be a tree and a plaque and nothing else next to the new prime real estate on that site.
Just look at who are accused/convicted of 9/11, most where Saudi, some Egyptian and Algerian. Yet Iraq and Afghanistan get invaded, it's a good job that the Bush family was in business with those Bin Ladens (Via the Carlyle Group).

Those Saudis got away with murder, I wonder why?
