i am going to spain next month, and as a red-head am a lovely shade of pale blue!
I thought of getting a spray tan, so that I don't scare all the little kiddies on the beach but don't know what happens. Do you have to get naked?
I saw an ad for one who comes to your house, are they any good? As an aging, overweight lady, i am a bit embarassed to strip off in front of a young girl!

ive never had a spray tan but i think that if you just wear what youd' be comfortable with on the beach when on holiday, say a bikini or cossie, then just drop the straps to avoid lines. No point in stripping off if no-one would get to see the tan on beach anyway. :)
crisgal, believe me they have seen it all,you can keep your bra and pants on,but you will get left with white marks,so most people just get sprayed with just their pants on.
If you wear lace pants you get a pretty stencil pattern on your bum

and having one at home is ok?
personally speaking mine was awful. you can put on paper pants that they supply but i opted for an old black pair of bikini bottoms that i dont wear anymore. as my boobs are quite big i had white patches left underneath them, looked awful, two white half moons on my belly, lol. i used to use st tropez mousse not lotion. you can see it go on and if you leave it overnight and then have a shower the next day the excess washes off and you are left with a wonderful tan. you can buy a mitt to apply it from boots, just over two pounds at the moment. i now use st moritz mousse from bodycare and its fab. i apply it every few days. i take it on holiday with me as im very fair too. i apply it at night so it doesnt go on your clothes in the day or rinse off or make splash marks if you are by/in the pool. hope this helps.
btw, the st tropez mousse costs 20 pounds and the one from bodycare is 2.99 and does the same thing!
my sister got a lovely spray tan recently. She gets the school holidays and is off all summer so while she is pale skinned does get a lovely colour on her arms but legs never change. Anyway the tan itself was lovely but after about a week it went really kinda horrible - bit like flakey skin and took a while to get rid of even though was exfoliating. Could you not try one of the 'summer skin' creams like dove that build up a bit of a tan before you go. I am dark skinned but surprised at the obsession by everyone to be brown these days - too many people are walking around like oompa loompa's!

goodness me i don't want to look like an oompa loompa!
Thanks for all the advice. I think I'll try the mousse. I just remember using fake tan years ago, and having streaky legs and mucky knuckles and knees!

I'm not obsessed with being brown at all joannie, but, as billy connolly said, it'll take me three days to get white!
Dont whatever you do buy the new streak free amber solaire one its absoloutly rubbish, you should see my legs, and thats after exfoliating. x

Johnsons do a lotion with a light tan, it's good and you have to spread it evenly. The dark one is very dark but the lighter one is nice.
they normaly do 3 shades, with you being fair and being your first time i would recomend to get the light tan. all you do is wear a paper thong and a paper wrap bra and you stand in a cubicle and they just spray you all over.
With the build up ones I would suggest exfoliate, moisturise then use the tanning cream. Also- wash your hands when you're finished but then squeeze a small amount on the back of one of your hands and rub the backs of your hands together so you don't look like you're wearing white gloves/a long sleeved top!
no matter how much you wash your hands afterwards they still stain and go orange plus how can you wash your hands when you need to tan the back of them, thats why i use a mitt. i would not recommend lotion as its greasy and you cant see where its been put on until it develops. also it remains very sticky and greasy on your skin so when you go to bed with it on it rubs on the sheets and leaves white patches. if you cross your legs during the day if you put it on then, it will leave a white patch. i still say the mousse is so much better as you can see where it goes on and it dries quickly. i just applied mine right now to the tops of my arms in particular as i will be wearing a strappy top tomorrow and from my knees to tops of my legs especially as i want to wear shorts tomorrow. good luck, sure you will look fab with a tan, you look so much healthier. i often get compliments about me looking so well , sure its cos of this!
After years of using fake tan lotions of various sorts I have decided to be pale and interesting and stay in the shade. It is far simpler!
You will always be interesting lottiex
Hi Poodi x. I've just been talking to you about the W.I.
you don't have to get naked you are provided with a disposable paper thong to wear
also if you want to apply tan to the back of your hand put it on to a cotton pad and then spread it over hands than you wont get stained palms,
